Community Opportunities Annual Spring Dinner
· Saturday, April 16th from 6-9 pm at Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 21, 104 Pulaski Ave, Radford, VA 24141. · Live and silent auction items including hand made quilts, original local art, gift certificates and a variety of unique gift baskets. · Barbecue by Log Cabin B-B-Q, Blacksburg · Tickets are only $25 and include food and beverages beer/wine tickets.

Election News Consistent with our by-laws, the following slate of candidates for Officers and Directors is presented prior to the Annual Meeting, with elections to occur at the April 16 Spring Barbecue Dinner, which serves as the organization’s Annual Meeting.
Additional nominations will be accepted from the floor prior to voting, and all members of Community Opportunities: The Arc of the NRV are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.

Norris Treasurer – Martin Daniel Community Celebration brings hearts togetherMany dance enthusiasts came out to show off their moves on the dance floor at the February Community Celebration. Thanks to the wide variety of music played by Mack Brown there were many opportunities for the young and the not-so-young to be up on their feet and on the dance floor. Community Opportunities hosted the event at the Fieldstone Methodist Church in Christians- burg on February 11th. A delicious potluck dinner offered various choices including a birthday cake celebrating Jessica’s special day. .....Read more in

Community Opportunities grew out of a commitment to seeing that people with disabilities in our community have a chance to live self-determined lives — lives full of choice, control, friendship, and membership in the community. We work to see this happens for the people we serve by helping to form support networks around them called microboards.
We call our website “The Kitchen Table” because that’s where we started — around a kitchen table — in 1998. We began with a simple conversation about what really matters in life — our relationships and our commitment to one another. And from there we developed some ideas about how to support our friends and neighbors in real and enduring ways. Welcome to our table. Join us in our commitment! |
