Community Opportunities, Inc. is a small non-profit corporation formed in 2001 in the New River Valley of Virginia.  Our mission is to assist and support people with disabilities, and those who know them best, to design and pursue lives of their choice. 

Community Opportunities grew out of a commitment to seeing that people with disabilities in our community have a chance to live self-determined lives -- lives full of choice, control, friendship, and membership in the community. We work to see this happens for the people we serve by helping to form support networks around them called microboards.

We call our website "The Kitchen Table" because that's where we started -- around a kitchen table -- in 1998.  We began with a simple conversation about what really matters in life -- our relationships and our commitment to one another.  And from there we developed some ideas about how to support our friends and neighbors in real and enduring ways. Welcome to our table.  Join us in our commitment!
