Leaders in the Virginia advocacy movement, the folks at the Endependence center hope to do just that spends the vast majority of its resources on congregate models of care.
FREE
FREE, The Foundation for Rehabilitation Equipment & Endowment, was created by a group of caring volunteers from the Roanoke Valley rehabilitation medical services community to provide rehabilitation equipment such as canes, wheelchairs, and orthotic and prosthetic devices to needy citizens when funds are not available from any other sources.

One of Virginia's best providers of supported employment services and other supports, ICON publishes data on a regular basis about its outcome performance. Consider this: most providers in Virginia don't (most provide process data which tells you how busy they have been, but little about the results of the effort).

David Pitonyak's web site contains information to help understand and support individuals who experience disabilities. The site includes on-line help for building a support plan, along with resources covering topics ranging from advocacy to storytelling.
Legal Advocacy Center
The Legal Advocacy Center is an independent, private, not for profit, tax-exempt corporation formed by advocates dedicated to improving educational services and outcomes for students with disabilities.
NAMI Virginia
Formerly known as the Virginia Alliance for the Mentally Ill, NAMI is a statewide self-help, support, and advocacy organization for families and friends of individuals with serious mental illnesses. Directed by one of Virginia's most effective advocates -- Val Marsh -- NAMI of Virginia provides valuable information about medications, housing, research, community-based care, and much more. Check out their good work.

Partnership for People With Disabilities
